i don't get why blizzard used Freya as a villain D: Freya is the god of fertility and harvest.
I did kill Hodir and Freya on Normal though.
Well, following most of the stories through the gameplay, I figured that the norse God equivalents turned mad or something. Which also could be supported by the fact that Yogg seems like a mental s.m.f.
After you defeat Thorim he reappears to help you in subsequent fights, so the 'gone mad' or mind controlled theories seem likely.
if they would mind control a norse god, USE ODIN!
Odin is the king of all norse gods, use him, and rule the norse gods :O
BTW i think blizz forgot Jotnene (evil little creatures that always fights the norse gods)
Dirk, a Jotun is a giant. Could be in a way equivalent to the Sons of Hodir or other frost giants. But yeah, they're evil, yet I don't think they fight the Norse Gods all the time, just often.. Or Thor fights them often, something like that.

It's diffrent how they picture them, some picture them like small goblins, other like massive giants, both may be correct.
But the fact that they battle the gods is still there.
I said the always fight them because they attack the gods often, but always lose.
Also, not only Thor kills Jotnene (this is not the english word, and i know it, but it feels a lot better to use it), but all the gods of war does.
to sum up: nobody knows what a jotne looks like, because they were made from the same thing as the gods, and therefore will look diffrent, they only fight the norse gods a lot, and not always and cake is good *drool*

I agree with you on the content. My guild finally downed Yogg this past week, with us getting him to 2% on our attempts before maintenance the first week.
I will say, you haven't fought the fun fights yet. Thorim, Hodir, Freya and most importantly Yogg are all absolutely fun and well designed fights, not to mention fresh in their methods. That doesn't mean they are easy, but it makes it a lot less frustrating wiping hundreds of times when the content is enjoyable haha.
