I think he means that hearthstones work while in combat, so the gang could've 'ported away before the fight ended. Tho' personally I think they're in the pool again.
Actually I agree with you... they probaly still in the pool, or hiding somewhere unexpected next to the giant corpse (Or in it?)
Hs does work while in combat, but gets interrupted if hit :).
Besides as said they are probably still in the pool.
They weren't in combat tho, the mage stole their agro.
I think the next comic will be about the loot of the hydra which the epic team left behind
