The Mindless Pits... the only way you can enter this mysterious place is if you have the ability to lick your own brow. Ironically, most of the really mindless people who tried to get in (and died from some form of suffocation in an attempt to lick their own brow) would never see the insides of the pits. Instead, a few "resourceful" humans ended up finding shelter within their cozy cavern walls while the rest of the world inevitably drove itself to a bitter collapse. And while the more mundane members of our species would frown as they would pass by the pits (literally hours before the world ended), the "mindless" pit-dwellers survived to emerge triumphantly to the surface after the big bang. The only downside being that life under a rock turned them into mad flesh-craving savages with an eerily homogeneous DNA pool.
That said, this is just one account of the possible history of crazed Vallant look-alikes. Some very prominent Troll historians claim that there is more to this enigma than meets the eye.
