I'd say it's a retcon alright but it only really applies to Ghrok.
Everyone probably forgot each other afterwords...
I don't think there are any plot holes, aside from:
* Spin and Vallant died
* Gorrok didn't recognize Sharon and Yolanda when he first met them, or Veron for that matter
* We entered the flashback when Deathwing breathed fire on the glads, causing Gorrok's life to flash by. Now, it's as if that fire never happened.
Not a plot hole: Gorrok still had both eyes in the flashback, he just wore the eye patch because he was a pirate.
Want to know more: It seems a bit weird that we get to know that Gorrok was a slave gladiator from young age, but it won't be followed up on.
Also: It would be cool if the authors would post a recap of everything so far.
