So, with Lich King just around the corner (you can almost sense his icy breath on your neck, right?), I am getting exceedingly bored with logging in just to play some arenas and shortly after logging out. If I wanted Counter-Strike, I would have played CS.
That said, this makes me want the new expansion even more. But, at the same time, I am pissed at Blizzard for moving away almost completely from the whole "RPG" style of gaming, where truly fat loot is awarded to the most dedicated hardcore groups of raiders.
I liked that. I wasn't necessarily a hardcore raider myself, but I still liked the idea of seeing that someone have that special piece of gear that I might daydream about (if not actually get).
Now, everyone is decked out in PVE/PVP welfare epics and high-end epic gear even (think badges and Season 3 gear) that's rather easily attainable through mindless grinding -- more or less.
This, for me, kills the RPG spirit of the game. It kills that special something that made the original loot from MC so goddamn awesome in my mind (the thrill of opening that Majordomo chest; or, looking past MC, seeing Chromagus (shoulders!) or Nefarion's drops).
I almost cringe now when I look at Thundersnow and see those goddamn retarded Merciless Glad. Shoulders that everyone (including me) is wearing. Hey, I'm a stats guy, I like stats (and will still go for the stats), but at the same time, the killing off of diversity is ruining the atmosphere for me.
Yes, I understand that the goal is to make everything accessible to the broadest spectrum of players (thus, latching on to your subscriber base); it makes the most cash. I am a consumer, however, someone who plays the game for the sheer joy of it; Excel sheets with dollar signs and numbers next to them, analysis, charts and sales trends are a huge turnoff.
I wish business people would understand that, inevitably, some of that logic now inherent to the game is rubbing off on the gameplay. It seeps through the cracks like putrid green ooze coming out of a beautiful Ashenvale tree.

finally back to arena
Yeah, The feel is fabolous again XD
Really awesome. :') Seriously can't wait to see what the hell the "FLAP-FLAP-FLAP" thing was all about!
I completely agree with your view on epics btw. The day everyone started randomly sprouting the Warlord shoulders, I felt quite patronized; having only really gained a High Warlord title for all my trouble.
Yeah can't wait too! Wanna know what "FLAP-FLAP-FLAP" is. Can't stand it anymore. Must know!!!
I think Yolanda made a new pet or something like X32A. Or that the gladiators are flapping their "Unconditional victory scroll" at their opponents! So that their warrior wets his plate of scaredness >.
Awesome as always.^^
Greetings from Hungray:)

(What the hell happened to my post? I typed a few paragraphs and it only ends up posting the first half of my first sentence...I'll rewrite some of the key points).
I grinded to Marshall (99% FM, stupid cap breakers...) on a pvp server. I would never wish that upon anyone. Nothing like having to drag my ass to my computer with a 102.5 degree fever because I needed 60k more honor before the week was over.
Anyway, it's fine most people have similar gear. It lets people who are better shine through. And more to the point, unlike the previous system, you have to pvp for your pvp gear not do a bunch of scripted fights to roll the poor sods grinding for their pvp gear.
I wouldn't mind so much if they bumped up the rating requirements for brutal, though. The 4 easy pieces should ALL go up 150 points each. 1850 for a helm isn't too hard. Maybe reduce the weapon and shoulders to 1950 and 2150. Going from 1700 to 2050 is rough without a carrot to prod you along.
But I will agree, my heart did break a little when I saw warriors run around with a GM claymore and nothing else but greens.
PS, just made a cute little change in the first pic. Gonna post that now :)
Brilliant as always. Leaving us on the edge of the seat, desperatly counting each passing day, until its finally friday again :D
on a side note: I may be tired after hours of work or maybe im mising something. But why is there a human on the opposing team? Please explain :)
I agree with you, arena really killed the original look raiders used to have :\
I quit back in February, came back and now everyone and their mothers have shoulders like mine ( BT/Hyjal gear ) I quit just before sunwell hit.
I sense an Engineer backfire :p
Dude X32A is consuming the scroll i guess it's a lil bigger to huge now, wtb mangle :D
Awsome as always :D, and completely true on welfaire epics. That why my endgame pally doesnt wear any arena gear in his holy set and im a main healer for hyjal and BT with over 2k healing unbuffed and there are alot of others like me its mostly just dps that seems to like the welfaire stuff.
I always thought you were a dr00d O.o:

i wet my plate a little. lawl!
To Kain; yeah, well, my first ever 60lvl WoW character was a NE Druid, Twolions on Khadgar (US Realm).
In fact, I named my character on Lightning's Blade EU after my best buddy in-game at that time -- crazy-ass 60 Warrior named Thundersnow :)
mmmm arrakoa? that wud be awesome =P well for me atleast :o i wanna live in sethekk halls
its probably Gorrok's evil plan to dispell the unconditional victory scroll or X32A itself.
I agree with you Thunder, seeing the same shoulders on everyone standing next to a battlemaster does ruin the "feeling".On a side note, I've had enough of TBC for one lifetime so I bought Warhammer yesterday and it's interesting. It is not "better" than wow in that sence, but it's decent. As long as I dont see a group of 10+ people with the same glowing, burly, flaming shoulders I'm happy :).
So yeah, like many people I am waiting for Wrath, hopefuly they will adress this gear issue.
PS: If you're bored, just go to IF and say in trade chat that you're quiting wow to play war. Say that you're giving away 4-5k gold to the 1st person that whispers. You wont belive how many spams you will get :) Like: Yo m8 we did zf once 3 years ago plz giv me gold (i lvled my char on another realm and trasnfered him at lvl 70 ^^) Hey! Im a hot chick give gold plzzzz. Try it.
Hehe...
brilliant as always :)
lol valant's hair are still like when he was on int shout xD
How's this for irony? You post regarding mindless grinding in arena combat, thus diminishing the true FEEL of "epic", and the ad that's running on your page is about getting an arena rating of 2000+ to score T2, T3, T4, T5, T6..."You want it, we'll get it"...
Just thought it was a rather ironic twist there!
How come all the high geared groups are Horde?
You offend me.
Well, at least you offend my Alliance characters.
*cry*
Now, back to my Troll Hunter.
great page as usual.
I made an account just because i had to tell my opinion on this matter of "wellfare" etc.
(Wall of Text INC!)
I can totally see you´r point since I myself have been the same back when i was raiding kara with my priest. But I have changed my mind, lemme tell you why.
Think that you are part of the blizz team of devs, level designers etc. Think about all the hard work they've put in making for example BT and SWP, making them fun and challenging. When you then are going to release a new level cap making no one want to run those instances, wouldnt you want more people to try and feel the fun and hard work that part of content demands? Wotlk is around the corner and no one will bother to run bt or swp anymore. It surely is a similar reason why Naxx is going to be the first raidinstance in wotlk.
I wont comment pvp since im not into it, but im relieved they are going to change the models for s5 so they are not like t7.
sorry for my bad english.
nice comic,
nice comments aswell.
My friends even quit playing arena and are going full out on leveling alts just to have more options to chose from when WoTLK hits...
and yes, nothing can compare to the old mc/bwl/aq runs (never saw naxx)
defeating ragnaros for the first time.. heck, even wipeing on him at 1% is an epic memory!
That said, now that I have a job & gf, it cut in my wowtime and I'm one of those people who almost needs those welfare epics.
we'll see what wotlk brings, I just hope it will be exciting as pre-tbc, and time-friendly as tbc so I can get back to the whole thrill.
regards
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Charge the retarded hunter - he's their main DPS.
Epic quote!
On a sidenote:
I'm in WotLK beta and all I have to say is gz Blizz! The Death Knight is so damn awesome that I'm thinking of rerolling (my poor warr will never be the same again...).
And about the item design: no more recolored old tiers! All the gear (including greens) has its own model/texture. The design of Northrend is awesome too, and the music... When I first heard the violine tune that plays on the zeppelins it literally BLEW MY MIND :)
Apparently they also are adressing the question of welfare epics. Not that I've seen it yet... All we have to do is mindlessly grind Lake Wintergrasp for PvP gear. With lag. Loads of lag. The siege weapons are cool though...
I quit wow cuz in the end you aint nothing if you dont farm arena for free epix or begin the life of a "lifeless" player who raids all night long.
Thats why I began with Warhammer after 3 years of WoW :D Highly recommended people who prefer doing PvP than raids :D WoW's bout gear, War's about talent ;P
This comic rules!!!
Maybe they got a merciless nether drake....
After reading next pages I figured out why the tauren says 'well I wasn't prepared for this' awesome xD, re-reading means discovering new stuff EVERY time! :p
Grenouer
First =)))
Very nice! ))))))
