I'm now at you might call a writer's crossroad. Do I take this comic in the direction of a more far-reaching plot, or keep things nice and simple with Arena matches that are ultimately building to no greater story than what is offered.
If it were purely up to me (and I'm not sure it is), I'd definitely go with a more structured plot, where I'd try and let my imagination go wild. Problem being that this comic is updated once a week, and therein lies my dilemma. How do we keep the panels dynamic and interesting enough for a weekly visit, while integrating any semblance of an actual plot line?
Honestly, I don't know. Still haven't made up my mind. What I try to do at least, with each panel, is to inject a little humorous miniature just to keep everything light and fun. I fully realize these little comic miniatures are not nearly as good as something that Dark Legacy does, so I'm sort of thorn between staying on that level (in terms of the comic's concept), or pushing beyond that.
Help? I'd like to hear what you guys think.

Keep it to the arenas for a bit longer? :)
second!! lol you are god
Nice one.
I think there is someone who might want to upgrade his sword soon.
I say you should go with a bit more storyline, Ill keep coming back no matter what you post, rss ftw.
Lol :) Nice :)
If you want to go for storyline you'll have to update more often (example :Monday, Wednesday,Friday) :D
If you want to stay in arena you'll still have to update more often (example: Monday, Friday) :D
Haahhaah nice 1
first, i think u should let us know how X32a did his magic..........pwning veron's ass or raping stormwind.or mabie both
and besides that, after wining that many matches, againt's full S3 teams, shouldn't they get better gear????
like valant buying priest gloves and druid boots, like a total idiot XD
haha lovely one this 1.. the blow bellow was a really nice touch :)
and i like how it is now that they play arena matches and stuff. and like the guy before me said why doesnt they get beter gear?? would be really nice to see some armor on them :)
keep up the good work!
Think, the last couple of episodes went a little off the whole arena thing, and that was kinda', boring/lame? It was really great with all the arena stuff, but it's great with something new anyways ;p
You are the best man! Whatever you decide, I will love it!
I LOVE YOU!
Good one.
The plus at Dl comics is that there isn't a story line, so easier to make. They don't need to have a story-line and imo you should go away with the arena, just let them do things, or let them search something (lfgcomics)(lfgcomic.com/page/1)
Well well... honnestly this is a really good question you are asking yourself thundersnow. I usually go with "do not change a winning formula", but your case seems more complicated. Of course, you could keep doing small strips of arena comics each week (best punches would take 2 weeks, etc) and let your imagination wild. But in the end, where does it go? And even if the human imagination is huge and wicked (yours even more), it is limited in the end. This comic started with a little background story, why not continue it? Id say that you should start building up a story with that comic you have. But still, "do not change a winning formula". Keep it with humour, keep it funny, make us laugh, impress us. I know you can. So far you have never deceived me.
P.S.: What ever happens, il always come reading.
I like the direction you're going with this week's. I found the arena match by match format was good but it gets tiring if used every week. I say go with a back plot to get people wanting to read more. At least that way you're not as pressured to come up with a short funny arena story every week.
The first few comics were a great example of this.
advance the main plot occasionally whenever a subplot comes to a conclussion, but you should definately have structured sub plots. sort of like Concerned (http://www.hlcomic.com) ehich i felt was made up with alot of sub plots while sticking to one main plot. go heavy on the story rather than just keeping "the panels dynamic and interesting" becuase, speaking for myself, a story is more likely to bring me back weekly rather than disjointed funnies which i can catch up on now and again.
Would almost say its two strips too late asking that question - having jumped so far after them opening the crate leaves a huge gap that needs to be filled somehow, and this strip makes that gap even larger imo. But I guess you can allways have some bronze dragons correct things somehow :p.
This being my first comment, I have to thank you for the weekly entertainment!
As for your question - i like it the way it is up to now. Some plots, some matches. So why not combine a larger plot line and still have some light strips in between to give your plotting brain a break.
On a side note: I love it when you make jokes about those stupid mistakes unexperienced combatants tend to make. Makes it very real! ;D
Of course whatever you decide, I will come here every week and enjoy the strip. *echoing above posts*
P.s.: For those of you looking for additional great comics - http://www.giantitp.com/
I hope, you don't mind my little ad. If you do, please just edit my comment. :P
Yeesh! Okay, here's my thoughts. Plotline? Why not! Arena constantly? You would head for creative burnout, but if it works, again why not? Here's the point - it's FUNNY, it's ENJOYABLE, and it's definitely worth waiting for Friday to see. Hell, ESPECIALLY on Friday - sets the tone for the weekend! So I say keep on keepin' on damn the consequences. You'll always have loyalists who'll stick with you, and people like me who get hooked from day one! :-)
I’ve been following the series for a few months, and one of the thigns I love the most about it is that it is this crazy haphazard mixed factions / race / intellectual capacity team that through no fault of their own is winning encounters. It’s pretty much the core strength that the humor behind the characters is built on, aside from the sight gags and nods to player legends (a befuddled Grand Marshal paladin still fighting a match after all these years? Too funny!).
If anything, and if it were up to me, I’d maintain the heart of the overall plot which is based around arena matches, and build on it. Maybe have the gang grind in BG’s for weapons, or hit a few quests/badge runs to gain better armor, or even have a few snafu’s with random other groups doing PVE encounters, or even get roped into a duel or two. If you keep coming back to the arena, but have the sideline stuff directly related to bettering themselves for the aforesaid arena games, that’s a win in my book.
But, then again, it IS your comic. Everything so far has been great. Keep doing what you do best - entertain us and make us smile =)
Give us an epic plot full of adventure and havoc caused by little sown-together kittens! :P
Though i have nothing against a bunch of sillyness once in a while.
Heck, you're Serbian, it shouldn't be impossible to make a great and at the same time funny story (Ko to tamo peva, Maratonci trču počasni krug itd.)
Pozdravi iz Slovenije :D
I like the idea of a more complicated storyline, I don't think it'll cause worse comics than the current awesome ones ;)
i really like this comic otherwise i wouldn't have bothered making a name/pass and posting this. i agree things have taken a kind of weird turn flying way off the original arena theme. however, i believe you should return to the whole arena idea, perhaps making this mysterious kitty the final "boss" of the arena roster later down the road (like those people who 1v2 in the 2s bracket, kitty could 1v5). conjure some reason for our heroes to continue down the arena bracket, get them some new gear, and along the way, give some insight about what happened when terror kitty was unleashed in the previous battle.
the whole arena aspect of this comic is what drew me to it, i hope you continue with that same idea!
Maybe we could have a little of both? Keep the team doing their stunts at the arenas (or other pvp setting) but then you could have a monthly strip showing us things in a bigger scale, like this last strip.
The team goes doing their stuff every friday but in the last friday of the month you show us the consequences of their actions in the grand scheme. The more structured plot, showing lore characters like this strip, could actually be the B story. In the end of the month only that we learn how their mistakes have affected horde and alliance lives and how bolvar and thrall are trying to fix it.
Note: They could do a lot more damage if they decided to "help" in the front lines (ie. battlegrounds and world pvp).
I lov'in it. whatever you post
You had me at Teh!
I'm going to keep checking in no matter where the story goes cause your flat out funny. Do what ever it takes to keep you interested.
(more content please, lol)
Normaly I would just say stick with what you have, it lets you stay lazy, and not bother reaching to the back of your mind. But your creative imo. I would make some 1337 storyline, and bring us some new content as comedy styled Arena fights won't keep over 9000 people like Darklegacys satisfied.
Either way im going to stay, and I think my friend will as well.
Ever since I last read their comic they havnt updated (I read it about a week ago) Im prett sure their forums tide the readers over, talking about said comic with each other.
Edit: If you want more viewers I think Darklegacy got all their because they put their websites name up ont he comc they won at Worldofwarcraft.com I noticed you won one also. Try entering agian, but put the websites name on it.
I say go how you want it to go. If you want them to marry each other then let them do it =)
You shall never compere yourself with anyone else.
Good one this week ^^
Hey there!
Great comic you have there, enjoying it every week! Fun and nice cliffhangers hehe...
As for the question i think since the title of the comic is "Teh Gladiators" you should not abandon the whole arena idea imo. I mean you have had some great idea for sideplots and/or Storytelling besides the arena so far, why not continue it. The story can still involve arena!
As i understand it, so far the "story" is that they all were kinda forced to do these matches to get back freedom (and maybe gold? ;p) but noone knows what other destiny they might meet during that ^_^
Like save the world in an ultimate arena match in the end? Sure why not! Or let them get captured by some badasses and fight for their lifes in another arena then the wellknown ones :D Send them on a quest to stop the kitten! Travel back in time by magic... anything is fine :p Just let them encounter some fights from time to time!
The story doesnt have to be in arena all the time, but i think it should always be around fighting in some way. They are a group of fighters! Teh Gladiators! :p
Whatever, keep the good work! I'll be around!
Thanks all you guys for VERY constructive comments. Keep 'em coming.
Let the beast loose, go all out with your imagination bro :D
hmm I liked the comic being about arena's, but perhaps you could find something like bg's, world pvp and/or premades or something?
So all those arena matches were a setup to make our gladiator's win... Guess they weren't so lucky after all!
regards
Hey :) I love the comic keep up the good work.
But like some people suggested earlier I also think that their Armour and weapons should be upgraded. Even though they win mostly by chance they still win and that would get them points :D.
Also I don't mind if you stick to arena or progress further in the story line. Although I do kinda wanna see what is going to happen now that they have been declared a threat. I'm sure not all the battles have to occur in the arena :) Some pvp action.
But keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to the next installment of the comic!
I think you could pull off a good deep story line even with 1/week updates. IMO, it doesn't have to be complicated or anything (this is WoW, after all :P ). The choice is ultimately yours. Personally, I'd like to see more of famous Warcraft characters around :)
Here's what you should do, despite in many other people's comments:\
#1Not upgrade their armors! It keeps the "noob" style of our heroes, which adds to the humour of winning arena matches by a mix of skill & luck. Because after all, armor doesn't make skill. Ask Druids... whoops...
#2: Dont make this comic twice a week, or anything more often. Do like Blizzard, a long job, but a perfectly done job. Real fans will not mind if we have to wait 2 weeks even for good comics (but personnaly, i'd prefer once a week, fridays even, gives a cheerfull start to my weekend).
#3: Keep it around arenas, PvP and (most important) humour. Most of us are here for a good laugh. A more structured story would be great, since it would drastically increase the life potential of this comic, but keep it around what all kept us here begging with our F5 keys: ROFL arena matches or other kinds of PvP fights (like the 1v1 Druid vs Warrior that lasted 27 years).
Also, be sure that us {real fans} will always be there to read a new page of your comic, will always be there to support you in your wild mind visualy represented in this twisted strip series, and (most important) will be there to tell you if something is going to be wrong. Feedback is a powerfull tool.
I can't wait to see where this will lead. You got a great potential story in your hands. Make us laugh.
long plot ! LONG PLOT ! You can freely go like LFG comic :) that yould be awsewm (spelling?) . Yes ,return them to pvp/arenas tiem from time , it's about it , isn't ? "teh gladiators" after all ... Oh and Nagrand is not more a part of a full planet (hence Dreanor is long broken appart)
Well. Been following this one from the beginning. Love it. Second best thing that happens each friday (best thing being the upcoming 2 days off. :P). I'd like to se a longer plot, but would still keep reading and enjoying if continued in the current style. :) Keep up the good work.
Love it !keep up the good work ...maybe mix the long plot in with some arena matches ...maybe a good idea or bad :P but you could have a all star arena team to fight for the like last match..with like all the race leaders ...meh ignore me its probs a daft idea....ill keep reading no matter what anyway :)
GJ
I want to see Yolanda giving Vallant a kiss at some point :) that'd be hot!
I'd say its up to you really.. i would read it anyway mate :)
But as you say yourself, once a week and a deep story plot is hardly enough to keep peoples interest.. if you want to go with the l337 plot id go with 2-3 updates a week..
Yet, the simpleton way seems less apealing to me.. i really love stories with plots that still have the humor. (like the later episodes of CAD).
Either way its entirely up to you..
ON a completely second note. Get vallant knocked out and let yolanda give him mouth to mouth! that would be hillarious.
Winds speed.

Page 10 - The Twin Pipes: best panel ever...I still go back to that page every now and then for a laugh!
My point being, it's those bombshell panels that either turn things in a totally unexpected direction (the decimation of Stormwind by X32A) or just drop an enormously funny one-liner (Twin Pipes) that keep me coming back.
I suspect that you can't stick with a plot that revolves totally around arena matches forever, and that you'll probably need to consider a new story arc at some point or risk reader burnout, but I think the arena-centric plotline itself still has some legs.
If you want to evolve the story, perhaps something to close up the arena? Did(do) they win their freedom, and how? Will there be a finals match pitting them against the top-rated team to draw this series to a close?
Perhaps a match against Fordragon and Thrall, along with say Tyrande Whisperwind, Cairne Bloodhoof, and Magni Bronzebeard?
Friday today and me want new Gladiator!!!
Gief!
And thanks for a fun comic ^^
yeah it's gonna be a boring DNS day, gimme new gladiator ^^
oh btw on additon to the comments, about gearing up our warriors... Maybe somewhere in long term, but at this time they haven't done 10 games, let alone 10 games / week :D
it's friday, no update yet, makes me sad :(
WTB update, 50 euro, including nether xD
trevor got roasted?
wha's up with the update?
UPDATE UPDATE!!!!!
on a side note
i read some ppl like teh new gear idea but others dont
i kind of agree with the "noob" look they have, but ill be nice see valant with the complete wrong gear, like wearing cloth or buying a wand...............or an idol XD
lordan05
first!!^^ nice one again
